Misconception About the Treaty of Peace and Friendship and Ship Signals

A common misconception that the majority of Moors have is that the Treaty of Peace and Friendship has some sort of saving power to save us from the jurisdiction of our oppressors. It may have had some power when there were actual Moroccans living on North America during the beginning of European colonization. However, in modern times, it is merely symbolic of Morocco being the first nation to open its ports to the United States, recognizing the United States as a sovereign nation.

When the kingdom of Morocco was conquered by France in 1912, the Moroccan empire was no more. Spain came behind France to pick apart the rest of the empire. All of the territories that Morocco controlled were taken by France or Spain, or they were freed. The treaty still exists because the United States did not assist France or Spain in the overthrow of Morocco.

A thorough reading of the treaty will reveal that it makes a distinction between Moors and subjects of Morocco. It says that subjects of Morocco will be returned to Morocco. It does not say anything about the United States releasing any Moors. Anyone who has told you that they have used the Treaty of Peace and Friendship to have a court case dismissed, to free themselves or someone else is most likely lying to you. Ask them for the court records. There will always be a paper trail that they cannot produce. We have provided a copy of the treaty so you can read it for yourself.

The Treaty of Peace and Friendship

For several decades, Moors have been attempting to enforce the Treaty of Peace of Friendship, to no avail. If the treaty worked like that or if we were Moroccans, we would have been free long long ago. The above section on Sundry Free Moors shows you that the U.S. were not honoring the treaty. It also shows you that the U.S. enslaved several Moroccans with ease in spite of the treaty. They obviously had no way to get word back to Morocco to say that they had been enslaved.

Today, even though the treaty is unbroken, it is merely a symbol of Morocco being the first nation to recognize the United States as a sovereign nation. Morocco does not recognize anyone here as being Moroccan, and if they did that person could not stay on North America and would have to get a visa. They would be sent to Morocco.

As an example of how the courts view the treaty, please look at the case of El Ameen Bey v. Stumpf. In this case, it appears that the federal courts have come to the agreement that use of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship will be found to be a frivolous use.
